With nine months to go until the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships come to Glasgow, tickets are now on sale for what promises to be a first-class event for the whole family to enjoy.
The five-day event will take place at Tollcross International Swimming Centre between 4-8 December 2019. Tickets are on sale via the event website: www.euroswim2019.com
Spectators will watch as European Champions are crowned in Glasgow as swimmers compete in 40 short course events. Held every two years, the event will be a particular highlight of 2019 as it celebrates the 20th year of the event.
Short course swimming is a fast-paced event and is guaranteed to have crowds energised from start to finish. Races are competed in a 25m pool, requiring swimmers to complete more turns, so crowds will see competitive, adrenaline-fuelled races – setting up this event as one of the most exciting of the year.
Billy Garrett, Director of Sport and Events at Glasgow Life, said: “We’re delighted to have the tickets now on-sale for what promises to be yet another first-class sporting event to come to the city this year. Glasgow is already globally recognised as one of the top five sporting cities in the world and 2019 has started on such a fantastic high with the hugely success athletics event we welcomed to the city this weekend. We’re already looking forward to welcoming some of the top European athletes in the discipline of swimming to Tollcross this December.”
Forbes Dunlop, CEO at Scottish Swimming, said: “It is fantastic to see another international swimming competition being hosted in Scotland which will excite and encourage the nation to get behind our performance athletes and help to fulfil our ambition to inspire the next generation through the National Learn to Swim Framework and club development pathways across Scotland.”
Paul Bush OBE, VisitScotland’s Director of Events, said: “With tickets now on sale, swimming fans’ excitement is ramping up as we all look forward to the continent’s top athletes descending on Tollcross later this year for the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships. This will round off a packed 2019 sporting schedule for Scotland, reaffirming our global reputation as the perfect stage for events.”
