The midpoint of the LEN European Short Course Swimming Championships will see a fierce rivalry between two top sprinters rear its head.
Day three of competition at Tollcross will once again see Europe’s best compete in the morning heats, aiming to secure their place at the sharp end of the day and the finals.
Fast-twitch athletes will be at the fore with sprint events aplenty and another nine gold medals are up for grabs with places in two further finals on offer.
The women’s 100m freestyle is the first title on the line and despite sprinters dominating proceedings, watch out for the tactical masterclass in the men’s 1500m freestyle before the day ends with the women’s 4x50m freestyle relay.
Who to look out for?
Two stars of the sprinting world will be looking to secure their place on top of the podium as Vladimir Morozov and Florent Manaudou go head to head in the 50m freestyle.
Defending champion Morozov will be wanting to retain his title in the event but 2012 Olympic champion Manaudou is back on the swimming scene after a couple of years out with Tokyo in his sights.
Kliment Kolesnikov may well be adding to his medal tally at this stage of the competition as he looks to defends his 100m backstroke crown.
Home favourites Ross Murdoch and James Wilby are likely to go up against each other in the men’s 100m breaststroke and they’ll be joined by Italy’s Fabio Scozzoli – reigning 50m breaststroke champion.
Denmark’s Pernille Blume headlines the women’s 100m freestyle which will see Dutch star Femke Heemskerk and Britain’s Freya Anderson join the fight for top spot.
